Oakmont Thoroughbreds

In 2020 Oakmont Thoroughbreds took roots in Ocala, FL. Specializing in training and sales of thoroughbreds. I’ve been a professional exercise rider and assistant trainer for the last 6 years. I grew up as a working student on my FL circuit showing as much as I could afford to. Once I turned 18, I wanted more than anything to have a career in the horse industry. Like many of us, I was never able to afford a horse to take me to the top levels of the showing world. As much as I wanted to become a trainer, with a showing record only up to 3’6 at a handful of “AA” rated shows the odds were against me. So, I switched my Samshield and Parlantis for a vest and skull cap and got my first job galloping at the track! My parents worked in the racing industry and helped me get my first job for a small trainer with a handful of horses. Horses that for the most part at that point, I had no business being on. I was always the kid that would ride anything I was given the opportunity to but even then, I really struggled. After a few months of being bucked off and run off with, one of the leading trainers at Tampa Bay Downs offered me a position grooming and riding a handful of their easy horses under their supervision to help me learn the right way. I spent the next 4 years with that team and worked my way up from grooming to riding a full set list, breezing horses, and traveling the country as an assistant trainer. During that time, I was even nominated for the Godolphin Thoroughbred Industry Newcomer award. I spent the next two years as the head assistant trainer at one of the most prestigious tracks in the country. Saratoga. My boyfriend and I took over a barn of 50 horses in training and ended up 3rd leading trainer by win % for our team. With my experience riding on and off the track, I definitely have a better understanding for OTTBS. In 2021 I attended my first Retired Racehorse Project finishing ‘Best Conditioned’ out of 70+ entries in the division.  I’ve recently started retraining horses off the track and a selective number of students for showing careers while still galloping and breaking racehorses.
